About Our District
CFD responds to a variety of areas, ranging from large commercial buildings, to sparsely populated New York City water supply areas. Our district is primarily residential, with dwellings ranging from modest 1 and 2 family homes to multi-million dollar residences. Included in our response district are multiple schools, government facilities, religious buildings, a golf course, several condo complexes, a 4 mile stretch of the Putnam County bicycle/pedestrian trailway, and Putnam Hospital Center. The Croton Watershed (NYC Water Supply) comprises a moderate portion of the district including Lake Gleneida, West Branch Reservoir, Croton Falls Reservoir, Middle Branch Reservoir, and Lake Gilead. CFD is responsible for fire protection for approximately 10.6 square miles and 8,000 residents.
